Canon EOS 1D Mark IV digital imaging
ReprintsI am pleased to offer photo-quality reprints of my digital photography.I do all my own printing of the most common reprint sizes (4x6, 5x7 and 8x10) so I know exactly what you're getting. Your reprints aren't coming from a third-party lab somewhere, mailed to you without my ever seeing them. I use two Epson Stylus Photo R800 inkjet printers, Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss pigment ink, and the highest quality Epson Premium Glossy photo paper. Epson's UltraChrome Hi-Gloss pigment ink is considered "archival quality", with a lightfastness estimated at over 80 years when used on Epson's photo papers. Without exception, all the photos I show here will reproduce very well in any of the standard 4x6", 5x7" or 8x10" sizes. Standard reprint sizes and prices
WalletsThe "standard" wallet size that will actually fit in a plastic billfold credit card sleeve is about 2.5" by 3.5". Some smaller sizes; these can be of the same photo, or of different photos.
Working from your, or other people's photosFrankly I'm very reluctant to work with your photos, or photos taken by other people. I start with Canon RAW images, convert them to tiffs, and only the final image is saved as a jpeg. Most often what people have as a starting point is a jpeg, and not a very high-resolution (pixels per inch) jpeg at that, and they expect me to work miracles. All that said, if you have something you want me to take a look at, email it to me and we'll talk... (Don't even ask me to work on an image for which you have no ownership or copyright control). Larger sizesIn most cases my newer photography (particularly those shot with my EOS 5D Mark II or 1D Mark IV bodies) can be reprinted very successfully in even larger sizes. I have these done through a lab in New York city. In every case they come to me first so I can check on the quality before I mail them on to you.
When matted and framed, the 24 x 36" prints are easily a stunning 30 x 42" in size... All sizes are cut sizes.
How to order prints:After mid-December 2009, my new photography can be ordered online using Google Checkout.
If you see the "Google Checkout Accepted" logo on a photo page, you can order online using Google Checkout. · To order prints offline, or to order prints of older photography, I need the photo name (i.e. "1234_the_photo_name"), or at least the first 4 digits of the photo name, the event, the size of the print you wish, and the number of copies. In most cases I can crop into the photograph if you want me to focus on a specific person. Give me clear instructions as to what you want. · The best way to order is to email me with that information, to jsage@finchhaven.comEmailing me with your order allows me to keep in quick contact with you should I have a question about your order, confirm that I have received your payment, and that I have mailed your order. I print your order within a day of the time I receive your check, made payable to John Sage, for the full amount of your order plus return postage. · You can also snail-mail me your order (photo name, quantity, size) and your check for full payment to:
Or, you can certainly phone me: 206-595-3604 (Note that as of August 2007 I no longer have CenturyTel phone service, so any 567-xxxx phone number you seen in an old Vashon phone book is extinct). · Your order will be mailed out by first class mail, or otherwise delivered to you (we can figure out how I can meet you up in Vashon, if you're on the Island) 36 hours after printing. |
Photo CDsMany people have asked, so I've figured out a compromise that lets people buy my photographs in a format that will be acceptable for what most people want to do: use a photograph for desktop wallpaper on their computer, or email a copy to Aunt Flo in Dubuque. (Here's the issue: if I sell my photography in digital form in sufficiently high resolution, once someone has one copy of a photo they can reproduce it in infinite quantities in exactly the same quality that I released to them in the first place. Typically digital photographers either don't sell high quality digital copies of their work or if they do they charge an arm and a leg, as though the buyer was Vogue Magazine or Sports Illustrated, and with stringent restrictions on further reproduction or publication). Here's what you get:
Then, for the web browser-viewable images:
All this burned onto a CD that presents the photographs on a customized version of my online album web pages, and that you view and navigate through with your computer's web browser. Click here to see an example of a photo CD from this last year. Photo CD prices
The example photo CD contains 4 photographs; the price for this example photo CD would be $34.50 plus WA state sales tax, mailed to you. How to order photo CDs:For my new photography put up after roughly December 2010, digital images can also be ordered online using Google Checkout.
If you see the "1200 x 800 digital on CD" option on a photo page, you can order online using Google Checkout. Otherwise:To order a photo CD, I need the photo name (i.e. "1234_the_photo_name"), or at least the first 4 digits of the photo name, and the event. Although this rarely seems to apply to anything, just for completeness my basic hourly rate is $50.00 per hour, one hour minimum, in half-hour minimum increments after the first full hour, on-Island travel time not included. I charge only for the time I have a camera in my hand, shooting.Having said all that, let's talk. I'm easy...I consider myself a "retail" photographer. I do not have stock photography, and except in the case of local Vashon Island organizations, I do not sell my photography at "wholesale".· Frequently Asked Questions / Terms of Use · |
