Coach Holder: "Niesa gives our team a lot of extra looks. She's a dead-eye shooter with a proven ability to hit the long-range three pointer. With her speed and quickness, she can really get a team going. She has experience in the playoffs as both a professional player and a collegian. Niesa Johnson is a great competitor and a hard worker."
Only 6 '97-'98 games: FG 33.3% (1-3) FT 100% 3PT 0% (0-1) RB 3 AST 0 BK 0 ST 2 TO 1; High points 4, Ave 1.0 per game (only 41 minutes..)
Coach Holder: "Nadine was a real sleeper. We hoped, but did not expect, to get her in the third round. She is a real speed demon and leaps out of the gym. With her attitude and work ethic I think she can really add to our depth at the three."
Missed her entire senior season after having off-season surgery on her right patellar tendon..
Coach Holder: "Mulitauaopele has too much up-side to pass on. Adding Naomi to our roster gives us more size and depth down low."
Coach Holder summed up the Reign reaction to saying good-bye to these players this way:
"It is so hard to see players go, and even harder to see some not get picked up by other teams.
We know that these women are partly responsible for bringing the ABL to the next level of play.
The fact that more than 40 players with ABL experience were in this year's draft and only twelve got picked up is proof of the quickly increasing level of play in the league.
The talent gets better each year, and this is an exciting and essential process, but a painful one none-the-less.
We'll miss these players -- they're wonderful women."
