The Vashon Boys' baseball team plays in the WIAA 2A Nisqually League against some familiar high schools: Eatonville, Foster, Orting, and Steilacoom, and then in WIAA District 3, Chimacum, Cleveland, Klahowya, and Port Townsend.

A major win, and a major loss

Cleveland forfeited to Eatonville with the score 2-7 in the second, Friday 05/14 at Orting

and then Vashon won over Eatonville 7-3!

And then, the Pirates and the Vashon community lose big-time with the accidental death of Pirate catcher senior Greg Smith in a one-car accident at approximately 5:30am Saturday May 15, 1999. Greg had driven in the last run of the 7-3 victory against Eatonville and had attended a post-game beach bonfire. He apparently fell asleep driving home. Alcohol was not a factor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and by all who knew of him.
