Basically, I did a really lousy job of keeping up with Pirate sports for the 2001-2002 season. Volleyball had *so* much potential last year, and it was a real heartbreaker for a lot of people that the team's potential was never brought out... For me it was real hard to get into the swing of keeping these pages up.
This year (2002) we've got a new coach (Dave Plypick - from Foster!) and we're back, and I'm back...

For the 2001 season and onward, the Nisqually League has been expanded and split into two divisions: the Cascade Division, with our old familiar friends Chimacum, Eatonville, Foster, Orting, and Steilacoom. The new Olympic Division adds two smallish 3A schools, North Mason and Sequim, and two biggish 2A schools, Klahowya, and Port Townsend. I dunno: it's kinda hard for me to keep straight. Basically (in my opinion) the smallish 3A schools got tired of getting beaten-up by bigger schools, so now the WIAA has let them come and beat up on us for a while. But of course that's just my opinion... So we play all our old friends twice, and we play the new schools in the Olympic Division of the Nisqually League once. All this is still in the WIAA West Central District Three... |
Interesting high school enrollment comparisons (2000 figures, I think) from the WIAA: Sequim 3A 812 North Mason 3A 611 Foster 2A 590 Port Townsend 2A 578 Klahowya 2A 549 Eatonville 2A 509 Steilacoom 2A 468 Vashon Island 2A 422 Orting 2A 369 Chimacum 2A 310 |
