The Great Divide (along with Vashimba, probably, and certainly the Portage Fill) used to define the Vashon Strawberry Festival musically. Often the Great Divide would close out the Festival on Sunday evenings when all the craftspeople (I used to be a potter, then - we're talking 25 years ago) were doing their loadouts...

Vashon Strawberry Festival 2006 - Sunday!

Candidate Cate Stackhouse (right) and her campaign manager Beatriz Sahaguin (left) campaign for Unofficial Mayor of Vashon at the Vashon stopsign in the runup to the Vashon Strawberry Festival, 2006! Cate is running with the Vashon Island Community PTSA as her designated non-profit, to represent all the school kids on Vashon Island. Cate likes the PTSA because they give money to the schools to buy math books and cool assemblies. The PTSA supports educational programs such as Family Science Nights and the Science Fair, art and music programs in the schools, and fun activities such as Rec Nights at McMurray Middle School and Vashon High School Swim Nights, so that kids can have fun and safe activities on the Island.
"It's important to give money to help the schools and kids because kids spend almost more of their time at school than they do at home, and their education is really important for their future."
Votes are $1.00 each and people are welcome to vote as many times as possible! Proceeds go to the charity or non-profit of the Candidate's choice. The winner will be announced on Sunday during the Strawberry Festival.
